Network for Education in International Health

The tropEd network comprises a community of institutions from around the globe that offer postgraduate education in International and Global Health. Through its activities that enable the mobility of learners and lecturers, the exchange of interdisciplinary experiences and the establishment of common standards in education and training for International and Global health, tropEd facilitates improved and sustainable health services and development with a special focus on disadvantaged populations’ needs.

tropEd Global Health Summer School 2025
The tropEd Network warmly invites to its third online summer school! It will take place online from 01.09. to 05.09.2025. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from and exchange with experts from 13 African, European and Latin American tropEd member institutions on current issues in global health, and to find out more about what the tropEd Network has to offer to students and higher education institutions. tropEd Summer GA 2025 in Heidelberg
tropEd summer GA took place in hybrid in Heidelberg, Germany, from the 05th to the 07th of June 2025. More than 18 institution representatives joined the GA. Key points on the agenda were: Annual and Financial Reports, courses re/accreditation, Student Session Input

The agenda of the GA also included a scientific session on the topic of `Follow up of earlier discussion regarding tropEd core activities´, an AI and ECTMIH Academy session and 2 recognition applications.

Master Programme

The degree programme is characterised by a unique synergy of experience and expertise of leading institutions all over the world. It prepares people to work more effectively in a multicultural environment by exposing them to multiple perspectives and offers a flexible structure with the world-wide recognition of education. The programme is open to students world-wide.

Member Institutions

The tropEd home institution is an entry point of the tropEd masters programme. It is the institution where you have your main registration. This institution delivers a tropEd accredited core course, allows credit accumulation and transfer from other tropEd member institutions under the ECTS, provides tutoring and guidance to students about the tropEd Masters programme, and delivers a Masters degree. In some cases, the home institution is also where you complete your Masters thesis, although in other cases you may complete this at a partner institution.

Handbook on tropEd recognition

tropEd recognition is the recognition of the Master level training provided and the Master Degree awarded, to individual students, by or through tropEd Home Institutions. It is not an extra degree but recognition of quality standards in education and training in the tropEd network. For the Home Institution tropEd recognition is a measure of external quality assessment. The recognition certificate is issued to individual graduates. For more details please see the attached handbook.
